What are you waiting for?
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
7 Of the greatness of his government and peace
there will be no end.
He will reign on David’s throne
and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever.
The zeal of the Lord Almighty
will accomplish this.

(Isaiah 9:6-7)
These words are filled with great expectation – a promise of Christ coming. Through these verses in Isaiah we see a promise that was made, hundreds of years before it came into being. There is joy and anticipation throughout the advent season because we know there is something great coming. As we light a candle each week of advent we are given a visual reminder that we are counting down towards the greatest promise of all, the birth of Christ. Christmas is a time where we see that God always keeps his promises.
What are you waiting for?
What is the thing that you truly believe will make your life perfect once you get it? That will give you the peace and joy you desire.
Let advent point you to where true joy and peace are.
The wise men travelled for over two years, following a star to where Jesus was born. They knew that Jesus was worth waiting for.
