10.16.16 – The Secret of the Kingdom of God

In Mark 4:1-20 Jesus gives us the parable of the sower, in which he says that the secret of the Kingdom of God has been given to us.  Jesus himself.  He is the Word of God revealed to us in human form.  And therefore it is from him that we can begin to understand the kingdom of God.  A kingdom has an agreed upon set of values that are to be adhered to.  In God’s kingdom it is therefore his value system that we follow.

The kingdom of God is described in Romans as being righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  Each of these things can be seen to develop in us a confidence and strength in all areas of our lives.  This can be sometimes be of most significance when we’re in the midst of a challenging situation.  When in a challenging situation one way to experience the kingdom of God is to ask God what he wants in that situation.  When we do this it can sometimes open our eyes to a different perspective – to God’s perspective.  Asking questions puts you in a position to receive.  What is it that we receive from God?  His love.

 

Ephesians 3:16-21

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you

with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ

may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you being

rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all

the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep

is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge

—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
